SHOW REGULATIONS
Dun Laoghaire Monkstown Canine Society
- JURISDICTION: The Show will be held under the license and rules of the Irish Kennel Club Ltd. as in force on 1st January 2022 and a copy of the Rules will be posted in the office of the Secretary on the day of the show. A “Dog” in the following rules shall be deemed to mean both sexes.
- VENUE & Date: The Show will be held at OLDBRIDGE HOUSE, Drogheda Co Meath. A92 CY68 on Sunday July 31st 2022.
- The Battle of the Boyne Visitor Centre is located on the South bank of the River Boyne, 3km north of Donore Village. The site is sign-posted from the M1 (Dublin/Belfast), exit 9 off the N51 (Slane/Drogheda) and off the N2 (Slane/ Ashbourne)
- The venue will be open at 7am for Marshalled parking. Please follow the parking stewards instructions at all times.
- ENTRY FEES: The entry fee will be based on the following scale: (Figures in brackets denote Sterling) Dogs registered in partnerships or joint owners are treated as separate entries even when forwarded by single owners.Breed Classes €26.00 for 1st dog

- Junior Handling Junior handling free unless the dog is already entered in the breed otherwise just select dog not for competition

- NO OVERNIGHT Parking/Camping at this year’s show venue.
- There will be NO trade stands at this year’s show.
- Entries will be online only
A. REJECTING ENTRIES etc.: The Committee reserves the right to reject any entry. advertisement or other insertion in the catalogue or allocation of stand space at the show.
B. INELIGIBLE ENTRIES: A transfer of an incorrect entry as to sex or breed may be allowed by the Secretary prior to the commencement of judging and a dog entered in an age class for which it is not eligible may be transferred to the next appropriate age class if applicable in that breed but in no other respects.
C. ENTRY FORMS (mistakes in): The Catalogue will be compiled from the entry forms submi ted by exhibitors .and while every endeavor will be made to have forms correctly inter- preted. the Kilkenny & District Canine Club cannot accept any responsibility for mistakes which may bring exhibitors within the purview of Irish Kennel Club Rule 15, Section 1, or for clerical mistakes that may occur during compilation. The exhibitor should notify the secretary immediately of any mistakes.
- REGISTRATION etc. All dogs entered for competition or otherwise, must be registered or transferred at the Irish Kennel Club, Unit 36 Greenmount Office Park, Dublin Except for Greyhounds already registered with the Irish Coursing Club will be accepted without further registrations
- VETERINARY EXAMINATION: The Veterinary Surgeon on call will have the power to exclude any exhibit which in his opinion .is not in a fit state for exhibition on account of Disease, lice or other cause.
- EXHIBITS: Each exhibitor shall be responsible to keep their exhibits under proper control at all times.
- The following shouldn’t have to be stated. Fouling and littering will not be tolerated and a fine will be imposed on any exhibitor who infringes this rule. The committee reserves the right to ban and expel any exhibitor who fails to observe this caution. You are kindly requested to respect the venue at all times.
- Judges: In the event of any appointed Judge failing to keep his or her engagement the Com- mittee shall have the right to appoint another Judge or judges.
- JUDGING: Judging will commence in all Rings at 10.00 a.m. Sharp. No claim will be consid- ered in the event of any exhibit being late.
a) No person will be allowed in the Judging ring except the Judge ,Show Officials, or an Exhibi- tor taking in a dog for adjudication.
b) The exhibition number of each dog must be clearly displayed by the handler, who shall not wear a badge or other decoration in the judging ring.
c) The Club will not be responsible for the exhibition of any exhibit in the ring at the time of judging.
- PRIZE MONEY: Best in Show €100, Reserve Best in Show €50, all remaining Group winners €20. Puppy Stakes €50, Champion Stakes €20, Best Veteran €20. Best Brace €20. All prize money can be redeemed on Show DAY Only.
- Interpretation: The Committee of the Promoting Club shall be the Show Committee within the meaning of the Irish Kennel Club Ltd. rules, and all disputes (if any) shall be dealt with by the Committee. Parties to any such dispute shall have the right to appeal to the Irish Kennel Club Ltd..
- ALL ANNOUNCEMENTS appearing in any Newspaper/online forum prior to the date of closing of entries and in reference to any alterations made by the committee in the schedule or in these regulations shall be deemed sufficient notice thereof.
- ACCIDENT OR DAMAGE: The Club will not be responsible for any loss or damage sustained through accident by exhibits, exhibitors or other persons attending the show.
- Exercise/Puppy Pens: are prohibited within the confines of the exhibition area, at all shows licensed by the Irish Kennel Club with effect from the 1st January 2009.
- Dogs not entered for competition: Dogs which are not being exhibited at all Breed Champi- onship Shows must be entered as NOT FOR COMPETITION, for insurance purposes, prior to close of entries. Dogs to be entered on a form supplied by the show promoting society giving details of breed/s and name/s of each dog. The show promoting society shall issue a pass or passes to such dogs and keep a record of same. Production of passes may be requested in any area of dispute. The fee for this facility shall be Five Euro, (€5.00), per dog.
- Puppies under the age of six (6) months should not be present on the show grounds unless being exhibited where a Baby Puppy class is scheduled.
Cropped Dogs
Cropped dogs are not permitted to be exhibited at any Irish Kennel Club licenced event.
JUNIOR HANDLING: A declaration is required from the parents or guardians of each Handler in relation to the child’s age - IKC Directive.
RULES FOR GROUP JUDGING & BEST IN SHOW
- The Promoting Body will not accept any responsibility nor be under any obligation to see that dogs eligible to compete are exhibited in their particular Groups, or for Best in Show, other than announcing in the ring that judging is about to take place. The Pro- moting Body will not accept any responsibility in the case of an exhibit that is excluded from competing in a Group, owing to the judging of its breed not having been com- pleted, or for any other
- Competition in Group Classes will be confined to undefeated winners in their breed.
- No dog shall be entitled to compete in a Group where any prize or award has been withheld from it in its breed at the show.
- A fee will not be payable for entry in any of the Groups nor for Best in Show.
- Groups will be divided into ten sections - as defined in the Irish Kennel Club Rules & Regulations.
- Upon entering the Group Ring Competitors must produce their correct ring number.
- In each Group and Best in Show the judges shall make the following awards: viz, 1st, 2nd, 3rd to 4th place, absentees MUST be marked.
- Competition for Best in Show and Reserve Best in Show is confined to the winners of the ten Group finals.
- If your Group Judging has not commenced before 4:30 p.m. a Best of Breed winner may leave the show but must notify the Show Secretary in writing that the exhibit will not be present for the Group judging. Otherwise all exhibits qualified for the Group must be exhibited therein. An exhibit failing to report for the Group will incur a fine of €50 and be disqualified from all wins on the day unless a valid reason is lodged with the Show Secretary before judging commences.
Notice for schedule
The Stakes Classes scheduled at this Show are separate from the Breed Judging and do not come under the rules of the Green Star System, e.g. An exhibit which has been beaten in a Stakes Class but wins Best of Breed may proceed to compete in its relevant Group.
All exhibits who wish to enter Stakes Classes must be entered in their relevant Breed Classes with the exception of Champions/Veterans who may enter the Stakes Class only.
A separate judge other than the Best in Show or Group judge must be used for stakes classes (Best in Show qualified)
Procedures will come into effect from the 1st January 2011
Breeds Not Separately Listed
Breeds entered in the Breeds Not Separately Listed at National Championship Shows will be entered into their appropriate breed class and the breed listed in the Catalogue. A Judge may award a Green Star and Best of Breed in each breed to any dog unbeaten and eligible, if in her/his opinion they are of sufficient quality and graded excellent or in the case of puppies “Very Promising” Effective from 1st January 2011.
CLASS DEFINITIONS
(The word 'Dog' includes both sexes)
Baby Puppy Class is confined to puppies of four months of age and under six months of age on the first day of the show.
Baby Puppies are confined to this class and may not compete for any other award other than Best Baby Puppy in Show.
Puppy Class is confined to dogs over 6 and under 12 months of age on the day of the Show Junior Class is confined to dogs over 9 and under 18 months of age on the day of the Show. Intermediate Class is confined to dogs over 15 and under 24 months on the day of the Show.
Junior Class is confined to dogs over 9 and under 18 months of age on the day of the Show.
Intermediate Class is confined to dogs over 15 and under 24 months on the day of the Show.
An Adult Class is for dogs between 24 and 36 calendar months of age on the first day of the Show.
Champion Class is confined to dogs that have attained the title of Champion under the Rules & Regulations of the Irish Kennel Club or other Kennel Authority recognised by the Irish Kennel Club.
Veteran Class is confined to dog over 8 years of age on the day of the Show (Optional) * A Vet- eran dog who has attained the title of Champion, may enter the Veteran or Champion Class but not both,
N.B.: A Dog or Bitch may be entered in ONE BREED CLASS ONLY (No double entries)
Neuter Class is for sterilized dogs over 4 months of age on the judgment day of the breed computed from and inclusive of the date of its birth. They do not compete for the Green Stars, Stakes classes and there is no Neuter Champion title.
Brace Class is for two exhibits of the same or different sexes of the same breed belonging to the same person, each exhibit having been entered in some class other than brace or team.
Stakes Classes are limited to Puppy, Beginners, Veteran, Brace and Team and are open to more than one breed or variety. All exhibits in stakes classes except for those entered in Champion or Veteran Stakes, must be entered in a standard breed class.
Beginners Stakes: A new stakes class to help promote newcomers to the scene and also to encourage some competing in the more numerically strong breeds. To be eligible to compete, neither the owner/handler or the dog will have won a Green Star prior to the entry closing date of the show. This class can be offered at any show. This is judged on the quality of the dog and placings are 1-4 as in the other stakes classes.
