On Saturday 4 november, the NCDH is organizing a Young Dogs and Veterans Day at the beautiful indoor location of Ruitersportvereniging Barneveld.

There are several stands with all kinds of nice gadgets and goodies for our dotted four-legged friends. Dog masseur Saskia de Weerd is also present, as is photographer Mike Dols.

Easy introduction to judging
The Young Dogs and Veterans Day is an excellent opportunity for young dogs and their owners to get acquainted with a judging in a cozy and relaxed atmosphere; how does a judging go and what does the judge think of the appearance and behavior of my Dalmatian dog? What qualification does my dog achieve and maybe we win a prize? The Young Dogs and Veterans Day is also an excellent opportunity for breeders to bring together their litters of Dalmatian puppies from the past 2 years; how nice is it to organize your own offspring reunion!

Nice extra: The breeder with the most offspring registered on this day will receive a professional group photo from the NCDH!

Fun class
It is also possible to register in the Fun class again! Dogs with a 'cosmetic flaw' (only with pedigree) can participate here. Does one of the littermates have a blue eye or a patch? Has your veteran been neutered? Even then you can participate in this day and win nice prizes! The judging of the Fun Class include report and placement, but without qualification.

Proudly presenting your veteran
The youth is the future, but the veterans are the past! And because we can be proud of the 'old stars' within our breed, who are often really 'fit for function' in old age, we also pay extra attention to them on this day. For the veterans and their owners it is a pleasant reunion and being together with other veterans, with the breeder of the dog, younger brothers and sisters of the dog, perhaps with offspring of the dog and with other lovers of the breed. After all, we all share the same passion!

During the judging
The judge will judge the dogs per class and every dog will receive an official report with qualification. However, no CAC, but placements with rosettes and other nice prizes. Depending on the number of registrations, the following classes are provided:

  • Puppies aged 4-6 months
  • Puppies aged 6-9 months
  • Youth dogs aged 9-18 months
  • Intermidet dogs aged 15-24 months
  • Veterans aged from 8 years
  • Fun class with dogs up to 1 year old
  • Fun class with dogs from 1 year old

After the individual judging there are still some extra prizes to be won!

  • Best of the Day - Best Baby, Best Puppy, Best young dogs, Best Veteran and Best of Fun Class compete.
  • Best litter – In order to participate as a group, a minimum of 3 dogs from 1 litter must participate.
  • King/Queen of Dots - The male and female with the most dots get a nice bonus!

Participation in the 'Best litter' election is on the day itself. You can register for these extra options at the secretariat.

Young dogs and young handlers, we like to bring them together on this day. Children up to 10 years old can sign up for the child/dog show. Anyone who is at least 10 and at most 17 years old on competition day can participate in the junior handling competition. Another condition is that the dog that participates is a pedigree Dalmatian dog. You can register in advance by sending an e-mail to [email protected] and also on the day itself.

Child/dog show
The child/dog show is for the youngest among us who want to try it out for fun to show a dog. We would like to encourage young people to get acquainted with showing. In an accessible and fun way, the children (possibly dressed up) can enter the ring together with their DAL buddy. If this isn't possible yet, no problem, mom or dad can join the ring.

Junior handling competition
Junior handling is practicing in a competitive and responsible manner presenting a pedigree dog, a form of sport with dogs. 'Junior' because it can be practiced by children around the teenage age and slightly older. And we call those young people junior handlers.
